Aspects of Successful Digital Stories
An effective digital story must have seven key components: a point of view, a dramatic question, emotional substance, economy, timing, the gift of your voice, and lastly a soundtrack.
Point of View: Storytelling gives writers the chance to experiment with the use of their own language.
Dramatic Question: A compelling story offers a challenging question that is resolved or addressed by the conclusion of the narrative. To put it another way, a compelling digital tale has a crucial question that captures the interest and concern of the audience and holds their attention.
Emotional Content: As its name implies, emotional content stirs the audience’s emotions and serves as one of the essential components of powerful digital storytelling. When the stories are screened, we occasionally witness audience members’ tears, laughter, and joyous expressions, which highlight the emotional element of successful digital storytelling and the connection of the story to the audience.
Economy: Don’t overwhelm the audience with needless material; instead, use only significant content and sufficient details to tell the story. When describing the story’s content, be exact, succinct, and straightforward. One of the most challenging aspects of successful digital storytelling is economy, where the author must carefully choose what is necessary and critical to the plot.
The Gift of Your Voice: In order to help the audience understand the story’s content, students should try to personalise it by recording themselves and narrating their own script.
