We give the new Dragon cards in Season 4 of Hearthstone Battlegrounds a number.
Before Season 4 of Hearthstone Battlegrounds came out, Dragons were not very strong. Kalecgos couldn’t keep up with the other ending builds in the meta after Tarecgosa was nerfed to Tavern Tier 4.
It’s clear that the new Season needed to help the minion type, and it looks like it got it. Each of the new Dragons is strong in its own way, and many of them are in the higher Tiers. They add new ways to play as a servant and make old ones better. We hope they’ll be enough to make Dragons important again.
Low-Flier
The Low-Flier servant is very interesting. Its base three hit will heal most of your other minions early in the game, giving you a big edge in the first few fights. Plus, it doesn’t take much to make Low-Flier’s move stronger so that it stays useful for a big part of the game.
Since Low-Flier doesn’t just affect Dragons, it can also be used to give other minions useful skills, like Divine Shield. Another unusual thing about Low-Flier is that it can be the main part of a build all by itself, with a little work.
Upbeat Frontdrake
Positive Frontdrake will add value over time. Three rounds is a long time to wait, but it does a great thing by giving you free minions. However, Dragons don’t get much better each time you play them like Elementals or Murlocs do, even though the value is nice to have. Getting triples can be easy with the Frontdrake, though, since the Golden version gives you two Dragons.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that the new Hero from Season 4, Rock Master Voone, works really well with the Upbeat Frontdrake. His ability copies the card on the left side of your hand every three turns. It happens after the Frontdrake’s ability. In order for Voone to hit, you need to be able to sync them up. One way to do this is to buy a Frontdrake in the first turn.
Electric Synthesizer
Even though Electric Synthesizer is a pretty basic monster, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy it from the Tavern. Going four attacks on several minions is pretty good, even if you don’t work with other Dragons.
But it turns out that Dragons can work well together when they attack. Nadina’s Divine Shield protects high-attack, low-health minions, for example. There are also straight combos, like the ones with a few of the other minions on this list.
Electric Synthesizer and Kalecgos can also work together in Battlecry. It’s not a build-around monster, but it will always make your Dragon builds better, no matter what type of Dragon you’re playing.
Sanctum Rester
In the middle game, an eight-health boost is pretty big, and the sixteen-health boost from the Golden form of Sanctum Rester is even bigger. Those stats will become less important as Penalty Kick Online goes on, but that much life can still make a difference, even near the end.
Sanctum Rester also gives you another way to grow Tarecgosa, which keeps the benefits of battle buffs. In Season 4, Tarecgosa was lowered from Tavern Tier 4 to Tier 3. That lets the minion join the battle earlier, and the addition of Sanctum Rester makes it easy to level up.
Disco Shuffler
The Disco Shuffler card can be used in a lot of different ways. There are many builds that can use Battlecries, and both of the Disco Shuffler’s options can be very useful. Elementals with Tavern Tempest and Murlocs with Primalfin Lookout are two well-known examples.
Disc Shuffler also works well in Dragon builds. The Tavern Tier 6 minion’s ability was changed so that it now works with Kalecgos whenever a Battlecry goes off, not just when you play one. But, of course, Disco Shuffler doesn’t give you a Battlecry ally by itself, but it does do Kalecgos’ thing for you. The only bad thing is that Brann Bronzebeard is not a Battlecry monster, so you can’t use it to double the effect of Disco Shuffler. You can only choose once, but the Battlecry you use and the effects of any minions the Shuffler makes will be increased.
Stormbringer
In Battlegrounds Season 4, there are a lot of new ways to make your Dragons stronger, so it makes sense to add a character like Stormbringer who can use those new abilities. It’s amazing how well Stormbringer works with both new and old Dragons. It can get a mistaken amount of attack in one round without putting in much effort.
The Stormbringer’s main flaw is that it has low health, but Dragons can fix that in a number of ways. Some minions, like Nadina or Amber Guardian, can give Stormbringer Divine Shield. You can also use Kalecgos or Sanctum Rester to give it more health. When you combine Kalecgos with the Stormbringer, all the damage that Kalecgos does to your other Dragons is increased by one.
