New England’s defense has been very effective against blitzes and Miami’s QB, Tua Tagovailoa, has a horrible passer rating against the blitz (#56 in the league). The over is the play here.
Best bets of the week
Seahawks vs. Rams
The Rams have had the Seahawks’ number of late, winning eight of the past 11 meetings. Seattle is looking to snap a six-game ATS losing streak after failing to cover against the Chargers last week.
The Seahawks are still fighting for a playoff spot and can clinch a wildcard berth with a win and a Lions loss on Sunday night. They’ll need to beat their division rival in order to do that, however, and we expect them to do just that.
The Rams are playing out the season and have little to play for, but they shouldn’t be able to stop a strong Seattle offense that ranks in the top 10 in points per game this season. That should lead to a low-scoring affair that the under cashes. Sign up for a free BetQL account to place your bets! Our free 3-day trial gives you access to all our best bets and much more. Lions vs. Bears
The Lions host the Bears in the penultimate game of 2022 National Football League regular season. Detroit has won just two of its first seven games this season, and the NFC North team will have to fight hard to win this game in front of a hostile crowd at Soldier Field.
The favored Lions have had an up-and-down season, but their defense was shredded against Carolina last week and this is a game where they could struggle to contain Chicago’s top-ranked running attack. Keep an eye on rookie RB Kerryon Johnson and WR Kenny Golladay, as well as young Lions DT Jarrad Davis, CB/SS Quandre Diggs and DE/DL Da’Shawn Hand.
Chicago has absolutely nothing to gain from winning this game, so it will be difficult for Matt Eberflus’ team to match the Lions’ level of motivation. This game also features the NFL’s worst defenses in terms of points allowed, so expect a lot of scoring.
Falcons vs. Buccaneers
Despite looking as though Tampa Bay would squander its chances of making the playoffs, the Buccaneers rebounded last week with an impressive win over the Panthers. Tom Brady threw for a league-high 432 yards, with Mike Evans returning to form and catching three touchdowns.
Rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder will start this game, and he should be comfortable enough against the league’s 19th-ranked passing defense. However, it is unlikely that Atlanta will be able to put up a lot of points against a team that leads the NFL in defensive points per game.
The total has cashed in 11 of the Buccaneers’ last 16 games, and it should be a good bet this time as well. The total will be lower than expected because the Falcons won’t play their starters, and Tampa Bay will try to conserve energy for a potential playoff run. The under has also cashed in seven of Atlanta’s last 10 road games.
Browns vs. Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers own the recent rivalry with their long-time division nemesis in Cleveland, winning seven of the last eight meetings and covering the spread six times. However, circumstances might mute that trend this weekend.
After a slow start, the Steelers have found their stride lately with quarterback Kenny Pickett improving and their run defense playing well. They have a shot to make the playoffs if things break their way, and a win over the Browns would go a long way toward that goal.
On the other hand, the Browns have nothing to play for and will be looking to see some progress from Deshaun Watson at QB. That might not be easy against a Steelers team that is second in the NFL in sacks. This game could have a lower-scoring nature than expected, which makes the under an appealing wager.
