These are the strongest enemies in Slay The Spire!
One of the best deck-building roguelikes out there is Slay the Spire, mostly because of how slick and well-designed the whole thing is. The game is almost perfect, from the treasures to the card synthesis. But the unique types of enemies have to be one of the things that make it stand out.
The enemies you’ll face on your adventures aren’t afraid to hurt you. With all of their unique skills to keep things interesting, this game has one of the best lists of difficult enemies I can remember.
Sentry
The Sentries can sneak up on you, even if it looks like an easy fight at first. It looks like things are going pretty well at first, but about halfway through the fight, your enemies start shuffled Dazed cards into your deck, which makes you feel weak.
You can’t do anything else before they take you out. If you want to beat the Sentries, you’ll need to deal a lot of damage and block well. Don’t fight this Elite until your deck is ready, even if a new relic looks appealing.
Gremlin Nob
You have to be very careful when you fight the Gremlin Nob because he gets stronger every time you play a Skill card. If you play too many, he can beat you in a few games.
If you play a Skill-heavy build, which is easy to do with the Defect class, for example, you might get stuck without being able to do much damage.
Most of the time, you can tough out this fight, but the Gremlin Nob is one reason why you should have at least half your health back before going into an Elite fight.
Nemesis
One of the Elite enemies in Act 3 is Nemesis, who is also one of the most annoying enemies in Slay the Spire. You’ve made it to Act 3 with a great build that’s killing enemies left and right.
Then you meet Nemesis. His Intangible ability slows you down so much that your hits only do one damage every second turn. This enemy not only reduces damage, but also adds three burn cards to your deck, making it easy to get overpowered.
Reptomancer
As an Act 3 Elite, Reptomancer relies on his minions to keep attacking you as the rounds go by. This is a pretty good plan. One of the Reptomancer’s strikes also has a debuff that makes it less powerful.
You have to keep an eye on a lot of enemies, do less damage, and one of the minions adds Wound cards to your deck, which is a fun treat. This fight gets tough pretty quickly. The best attacks for this are the ones that can hurt more than one enemy at once.
Darkling
It’s hard enough to have to kill a strong enemy in Act 3. Needing to kill three. What’s perhaps even worse than that? Having to kill all three of those bad guys at the same time.
Why is this? Because of the Darkling’s Life Link power, you can’t win the battle unless all three enemies lose all of their health in one round.
This is even harder because if all three enemies aren’t killed at the same time, they will come back with half their strength. This fight is terrible if you don’t have the right build, and it can end your run right away.
Spire Growth
For the most part, fighting the Spire Growth will not work unless you have a build that gives you a lot of block. When this enemy hits you, it gives you an ability called Constricted. This ability does more damage to you each round on top of the damage it already does.
If you don’t build with a lot of blocks, this fight will end in just a few rounds. It may feel like an Elite fight, but this is just a normal Act 3 fight, so make sure your plans are right.
Bronze Automaton
All of the enemies that look like minions are tough, but fighting the Bronze Automaton is especially annoying. This boss in Act 2 can steal some of your cards, which is a dangerous skill. The only way to get them back is to kill the Bronze Orb minions.
It’s always possible that they’ll take away some of the cards that are important to your build. If that happens, the game is pretty much over. There are other buffs the Bronze Automaton can use, and it does a lot of damage, so you don’t want to be unprepared for this fight.
The Collector
The Collector’s plan is to do damage, damage, and more damage. This enemy keeps throwing minions at you, and new ones seem to appear faster than you can kill them. The Act 2 boss fight needs you to do a lot of damage and block.
The Collector also increases the minions’ strength and block, which makes the battle feel like it’s coming at you from all sides. To top it all off, the Collector gives you the Mega Debuff ability, which makes you very weak, frail, and easy to attack.
Donu and Deca
Even though these enemies are some of the toughest in Doodle Cricket, Donu and Deca have become fan favorites because of how simple and cute they look. These two do insanely high damage, and they also buff each other, which makes for a difficult fight.
No, this ability does not stack. Donu’s Circle of Power gives them three strength, and Deca’s Square of Protection gives them sixteen blocks. It becomes a game to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible in this fight. If your build isn’t strong enough, you’ll be wiped out in a few rounds.
Time Eater
As a boss in Act 3, the Time Eater is one of the most dangerous enemies in the game. This scary enemy’s Time Warp ability ends your turn and gives them two strength after you play twelve cards, and that count stays the same between rounds.
That’s not all. The Time Eater also has the haste ability, which heals the enemy back to half health when it drops below half health. If you don’t have enough power going into the final fight, it can be one of the most stressful parts of the game.
Corrupt Heart
The Corrupt Heart is without a doubt the hardest boss in Slay the Spire, since it’s the last boss of the game. For instance, its “Invincible” ability limits the damage it takes to 300 HP per round. It also has a “Beat of Death” ability that does damage every time you play a card.
If you’ve made it this far, you probably have a build that makes this fight pretty easy.
